3D Generalist

Job Description/Overview

Malouf is looking for a skilled 3D Generalist to add to our in-house video production team. This individual will work alongside other 3D and 2D graphic artists, as well as a team of directors, cinematographers, photographers and graphic designers to model and render realistic 3D imagery of our wide array of bedding and furniture products. Though housed on the video team, this will truly be a cross-departmental position. The still imagery and animation created will be used in online product listings, packaging, sales presentations, social media, augmented reality apps, product video, how-to and training video, and other branded video content.

This is a full-time position. General schedule is 8am-5pm Monday - Friday. Part time or student schedules are not available.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Make accurate and detailed models of existing product inventory as well as future products
  • Create realistic textile, fabric, metal and wood textures to match our products
  • Create photorealistic still renderings of our products in realistic home environments
  • Work alongside designers and directors to pre-visualize a wide array of projects
  • Integrate with 2D motion designers to create more dynamic animations
  • Seek and embrace constructive feedback and iterate and improve

Qualifications and Skills

  • Submission of a portfolio of your work, demonstrating applicable skills is required
  • Experience with PBR workflows
  • 3ds Max experience preferred, but not required (Maya, Blender, C4D all acceptable)
  • Proficiency in hard-surface modeling techniques. Some sculpting/cloth simulation experience preferred as well
  • Ability to retopologize scanned or sculpted models
  • Mastery in UV mapping, texturing, lighting, etc.
  • Knowledge of V-ray, Arnold, Redshift or other professional render engines
  • Foundational understanding and skills in image compositing
  • Understanding of other 2D graphics applications (After Effects, Photoshop) preferred but not required
  • Be forward thinking and willing to learn new things
